Dundas Peak and Tewa Falls, Hamilton

Nature walk

short trail from peak area leads to beautiful waterfalls. It is just amazing. The best time to visit this place is a cold and snowy afternoon. Preferably from November to February, people come from various parts of New Zealand and out of the country to view and experience it. Walking there is just beyond imagination breathtaking.

City view from the top

Hustle and bustle of any city is awesome and when we think about Hamilton, it is more than awesome. This city is the fourth largest city in New Zealand and famous for its natural beauty. Various waterfalls and peaks around the city make it more beautiful. Every city has someplace from where you can have a nice view of the city, Dundas peak is that place.

Tewa waterfall

One of the premier waterfalls, Tewa pours water from the height of the Niagara Escarpment in Dundas. The beauty of that waterfall cannot be defined in words. It is like a princess and a wordless experience for anyone visiting there. It is also a photogenic experience for all. You may have thousands and thousands of photogra[hs from different places and angels. It is always advised to visit this place on weekdays because on weekends there is so many crowds out there. Here spending some peaceful time is the best way to keep memories of waterfalls alive for a long time. In the waterfall, the colors of the view keep changing and it is just a breathtaking experience.

Dundas Peak

Be sure to take the time to hike from Tews Falls out to Dundas Peak. You will feel mesmerized by the view. While hiking, you can enjoy the nearby natural beauties. There is also a place called Skyway Bridge. Stop there for some time and have a clear and awesome view of the Hamilton city from the top. On the peaks, you will get some good snacks too. But in Hamilton, law enforcement is very tight so do not make the mistake of throwing garbage here and there.

You may be fined heftily. In winter, this peak gets covered with snow and various snow-related sports activity also happens near the peak area. Do not visit this place during the rainy season. Tracking gets dangerous and all the nearby shops also get closed in that season. Depending upon your preference, winter and summer is the best season to visit.

How to reach

Access is only by foot or by shuttle bus from the Christie Lake Conservation Area. To reach Hamilton, no land transport facility is available.

By Cab

Cab is the best suited and highly comfortable mode of transport to reach Dundas Peak and Tewa Falls. It also consumes less time as compared to bus or train service.

By Air

The nearest airport is Hamilton International Airport. It is less than 30 minutes drive from this location.

By Train

Train service is available but it is not comfortable and cheap. Despite spending a good amount, trains will not leave you nearby the place.

By Bus

Frequent Bus services are available to travel all over the city.
